We are registered with, and governed by, the securities regulators of the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

The firm’s specialty is real estate.

An investor can participate in the asset class of real estate through various debt and equity financial instruments not available in the public markets, including: mortgage syndications, mortgage funds, limited partnerships, mutual fund trusts and real estate investment trusts.

As a category, these securities are often referred to as exempt market products or alternative investments. The risk profile of these investments can vary considerably, reflecting the underlying business activity, their geographic location, stage of development, and type of real estate.

Investors seek this type of investment for their potential to provide 1) yield/cash flow and growth, 2) as a hedge against inflation, 3) for the underlying security, and 4) to increase the efficiency of their portfolio. Axcess Capital Advisors encourages all investors to understand the investments they are considering, and assess the suitability of each investment for their personal circumstances.

To that end, investment representatives are available for a personalized consultation. The consultation will include a discussion of the investor’s financial goals and risk tolerance, as well as the merits and risks of the investments. Investment representatives are available in several communities in Western Canada and are often available to meet in person.

Axcess Capital Advisors Investment Representatives are located in communities throughout Western Canada, and are available as a resource for prospective investors.

Our Investment Representatives are registered with one or more provincial securities regulators as an Exempt Market Dealing Representative.The role of the representative is to assist an investor in determining the suitability of the investment for their personal circumstances, goals and objectives.

To this end, representatives gather personal and financial information, and discuss the investor’s risk tolerance. This is known as the KYC (Know Your Client) process. The representative provides information that will help the investor understand the risks and potential benefits of the available investments, and will help to open accounts and facilitate transactions, in accordance with securities regulations and established compliance protocols.

Each representative receives ongoing product offering training regarding private market real estate investments, and has an in-depth understanding of the proprietary and third-party investments offered through Axcess Capital Advisors.

Wm. J. Buterman

Mr. Buterman has been and continues to be actively engaged in the Real Estate funding and Merchant Banking industry.
In 2002 Mr. Buterman co-founded the Axcess Capital Group of Companies, which has grown since 2002 to administer and / or manage over $80,000,000 in secured real estate investments, and includes Axcess Capital Partners Inc., Axcess Capital Advisors Inc. and Axcess Capital Management Ltd. Axcess Capital Partners Inc. is a private real estate investment company focusing on the underwriting of small to medium sized commercial projects primarily in Western Canada. Axcess Capital Advisors Inc. is a private, securities registered Investment Fund Manager, Exempt Market Dealer and Portfolio Manager specializing in real estate backed debt. Axcess Capital Management Ltd. is a private management company that provides all the administration and accounting support for Axcess Capital Partners Inc. and Axcess Capital Advisors Inc. Since inception, Mr. Buterman has been one of the principals and managing partners of the Axcess Capital Group of Companies and has served those companies in numerous official capacities, currently acting as President of Axcess Capital Partners Inc., while also serving as the President and CEO of Axcess Capital Management Ltd. and the CFO and Secretary-Treasurer of Axcess Capital Advisors Inc.
Prior to his involvement with the Axcess Group of Companies, Mr. Buterman served as a founder and Managing Partner of Intergroup Consulting, a Financial Consulting / Real Estate Funding and Mortgage Brokerage company extensively involved in commercial and multi-residential real estate projects in Western Canada and the South Western United States. Founded in 1982, Intergroup was eventually sold to a major Canadian bank in 1996.
In addition to his in-depth experience in the real estate and mortgage sector, Mr. Buterman has developed courses for numerous educational and commercial institutions and industry participants and lectured extensively in Finance, Real Estate Finance and Mortgage Financing. Mr. Buterman has also instructed and lectured in the areas of Credit Underwriting, Credit Analysis and Risk Analysis covering Commercial Real Estate Investment and Commercial Real Estate Finance. He currently presides as an appointed board member (6-year term) of the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), and is a member of several other real estate industry organizations.

Trevor Stott

Since inception, Mr. Stott has been one of the principals and managing partners of the Axcess Capital Group of Companies and has served those companies in numerous official capacities, currently acting as Secretary-Treasurer and CFO of both Axcess Capital Partners Inc. and Axcess Capital Management Ltd., while also serving as the President and CEO of Axcess Capital Advisors Inc. Mr. Stott is also presently appointed as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Ultimate Designated Person (UDP) for Axcess Capital Advisors Inc., pursuant to securities’ regulations.
Before establishing the Axcess Capital Group of Companies, Mr. Stott held several senior officer and accounting positions, including CFO and COO, for numerous businesses in the oil and gas industry and other industries, including publicly traded companies, and has also consulted businesses on the subjects of strategic acquisitions and corporate finance.
A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Stott has extensive experience in both public accounting and public and private industries. Over a period of 28 year he served as Controller and CFO for several small to medium sized businesses in the oil and gas, oil services, agriculture and technology sectors, developing and implementing accounting and financial reporting systems and departments. He also has over 14 years of public accounting experience, including his own public accounting practice, providing financial statement and business advisory services to clients in non-profit, oil and gas, real estate, technology and manufacturing businesses,
Mr. Stott has also been actively involved in the real estate investment industry in other capacities. As Lead Partner of a real estate development company, Mr. Stott has experience with the private acquisition, design and construction of commercial real estate projects.
Mr. Stott has served as a director and CFO of various mortgage investment corporations.

Registered with Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), our advisory team specializes in the investment, syndication and brokerage of both residential and commercial mortgages. This team consists of lending experts, each with over 25 years of underwriting, banking and lending experience, they have the expertise to provide quick and out-of-the-box solutions to borrowers for all types of real estate projects.

Typical projects include: land or building acquisitions, new development, multi-family residential construction, condominium conversions, renovations and refinancing, equity take-outs, bridge financing, construction loans, existing land redevelopment, and land servicing.

Underwriters perform a detailed analysis of the opportunity, and the borrowers, with consideration of a wide range of information, including:

• Location of the property
• Loan amount required
• Purpose or use of funds
• Copy of current title
• Purchase agreement for the property
• Documentation for Borrower entity (articles of incorporation, operating agreement, etc.)
• Current appraisal
• Current financial statements
• Credit assessment of the Borrower and Guarantor, including most recent tax return and credit bureau reports
• Exit strategy

Axcess Capital Partners has provided in excess of $100 million in mortgage financing. These mortgages range from $50,000 to $5 million, with terms ranging from less than one year to three years, and typically on real estate in Western Canada.
